The Basics
TIDC is currently funded through a combination of general revenue and general revenue-dedicated (GR-D) funds. GR-D accounts are used for collecting deposits from a specific source and dedicated for a particular purpose.
TIDC's GR-D funds are collected in the Fair Defense Account (Fund 5073). Fund 5073 is funded primarily from court costs paid by criminal defendants. TIDC expends these funds to sustain and improve Texas indigent defense.
