Katherine McAnally
Katherine McAnally joined TIDC in January 2026 as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Family Protection Representation Division. Her work focuses on the court-appointed legal representation system for children and indigent parents involved in cases brought by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). Katherine brings a unique perspective to this work, developed through diverse experience within these systems. She served more than 15 years as the First Assistant in the Burnet County Attorney’s Office, where she represented DFPS while also participating in county governance, juvenile court, protective orders, adult misdemeanors, and more. In her solo practice, she represented families in family protection court, juvenile court, and in cases involving discipline and special education in the school systems. She also brings the perspective of lived experience with the family protection system, having been a child in the system. Katherine earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Baylor University and her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law. Katherine is board-certified at both the state and national levels in child welfare law through the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and as a Child Welfare Law Specialist through the National Association of Counsel for Children. Katherine brings this unique knowledge to bear on her work, improving the provision of counsel for parents and children throughout Texas.
